Flatiron Kitchen + Taphouse

About us

Where the road forks on Main Street in Davidson, NC, that's where you'll find us, Flatiron Kitchen & Taphouse. You'll also find thoughtful, passionately prepared food under the guidance and leadership of Managing Partner and Chef Bill Schutz. Our neighborhood spot is able to achieve a big-city culinary experience, balancing traditional cooking techniques with adventurous creativity.

Our specials change frequently, and we cook with the seasons in mind. Many of our dishes are cooked over the embers of our wood-fired grill to give you rich flavors you can't easily get anywhere else. In addition to offering a premium list of food-friendly wines, Flatiron features a thoughtful selection of imported and local craft beers, bourbons, and spirits.

As a teenager in a small fishing town, Chef Bill Schutz worked as a dishwasher and then cook, until a meal at the renowned Bouley Restaurant in NYC changed his life. The meal so deeply inspired Schutz that his waiter introduced him to Chef David Bouley, who ultimately offered Schutz a job as a line cook. Chef Bouley mentored Schutz until the original Bouley Restaurant closed. Bouley then sent Schutz to Paris where he staged in three Michelin-starred kitchens. Chef Schutz returned to NYC as Executive Sous Chef at the famous La Caravelle, until he rejoined Bouley as Chef de Cuisine. While he's worked his way through kitchens across Spain, Italy, France, and Singapore, Chef Schutz now calls Huntersville, NC home.
